Description

In Alberta, water is owned by the Crown and its use is regulated by Alberta Environment under the Water Act. The general procedure to obtain the authorization under the Water Act to divert water is described in the Guidelines for Licensing Water Diversion Projects. The goal of this updated Guide to Groundwater Authorization is to clarify the process applicants must follow when applying to divert groundwater.
